Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The World Men Boxing Championship has ended in Tashkent. Four representatives of Uzbekistan entered the ring today.
Oybek Juraev (-54 kg) lost to Mahmud Sabirkhan from Kazakhstan and finished the 2023 World Cup with a silver medal.
Abdumalik Khalokov, who won a silver medal at the world championship in Serbia 2 years ago, became the world champion in Tashkent. In the final of the weight category up to 57 kg, Khalokov defeated the Cuban Seidel Horta.
Ruslan Abdullayev, who made his debut at the World Championships, finished the competition with a gold medal. The Uzbek boxer, who performed in the weight category up to 63.5 kg, defeated the Mongolian boxer Chinzorig Batarsukh.
Saidjamshid Jafarov (-71 kg) was the last among our compatriots in the final fight. Unfortunately, the fight ended with the victory of Kazakhstani Aslanbek Shimbergenov, and our compatriot won a silver medal.
Boxers of the national team of Uzbekistan won 5 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals. This result allowed the national team of Uzbekistan to take first place in the team standings.
It is worth noting that even before that, domestic fighters had not won so many gold medals and a total of 9 awards at any World Cup.
