“Adult education is one of the important elements of the human development and it contributes to Millennium Development Goals” – said Stefan Liller, UNDP Assistant Resident Representative in his opening speech. During three days representatives of Ministries, international organizations, educational programs, as well as local and foreign experts on education, implementation of innovative ICT tools, shared their knowledge and experience on adult education, discussed issues of legal and regulatory framework and other relevant issues.

During her presentation Yana Chicherina, Project Manager of UNDP "Inclusive Employment and Social Partnership" (Social Partnership) project reiterated that adult education improves quality of life, increases efficiency and fosters sustainable and prosperous society. In addition, the Social Partnership project conducted workshops and master classes on social partnership in vocational education and employment for vulnerable groups, as well as provided information on innovative approaches to inclusive education.

The forum adopted a document with policy recommendations for further development of legal framework, improving governance, funding and quality of adult education in our country, UNDP said.

The forum was organized by UNESCO in Uzbekistan in cooperation with the National Commission of Uzbekistan for UNESCO, the Representation of DVV International in Uzbekistan, Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education, Ministry of Public Education, Ministry of Labor and Social Security, State Testing Centre under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Academy of State and Public Construction under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Association of the Harmonious Development of Adult and Youth of Uzbekistan (AHDAaYUZ).
