The mutual cooperation between KOICA and the Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan was highly appreciated

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- After the launch of the first KOICA project in 2007 in the field of supporting technical and vocational education (TVET) and the full commissioning of the first vocational training center in the city of Tashkent in 2012, the number of such centers has now reached five.

The first center of prof. training for the unemployed population in 4 specialties (information technology, electricity and electronics, car maintenance, mechanical engineering) approved by PKM No. 270 of September 13, 2012. was created in the Sergeli district of Tashkent.

It should be noted that the stable operation of this Center in particular, the organization of effective training of highly qualified technical personnel in demand on the labor market, played a big role in the expansion of KOICA projects in this area. So, after 4 years, the second vocational training center was commissioned in Samarkand, and then in 2018 in Shakhrisabz, and later in 2022 in Fergana.

Currently, the fifth project to create the Urgench Vocational Training Center is at the implementation stage, also implemented within the framework of grant assistance by the Office of the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) together with the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Training in the above centers is designed for 8 months, of which 6 months the student undergoes both theoretical and practical training at the center itself, and the remaining 2 months at the industrial site. Each center is fully equipped with equipment for practical training imported from the Republic of Korea, curricula and manuals in each area are developed together with the teaching staff of the ministry and Korean experts in the related field, from organizations such as the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) in collaboration with professors Korea University of Technology and Education "Koreatech" and the Korean Human Resource Development Service (HRD Korea) under the Ministry of Employment of the Republic of Korea. To date, more than 12,000 unemployed people have been trained in four vocational training centers.

Last year, a delegation from the Development Assistance Committee of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (DAC OECD) visited Uzbekistan to conduct a peer review. During the visit, the delegation held many meetings with government agencies - KOICA partners in Uzbekistan.

This organization regularly highlights cooperation projects for the development of its member countries that have achieved significant results.

In March of this year, the organization posted on its website an article about KOICA TVET projects in Uzbekistan, which especially emphasized the comprehensive assistance and attention of the Government of Uzbekistan for the development of this area, as well as the high success of the implementation of these projects.
