Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A meeting between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan took place in a narrow format at the Presidential Palace in Ankara.

The leaders of the two states exchanged warm congratulations on the upcoming holiday of Eid al Adha, sacred to the entire Muslim Ummah.

During the negotiations, special attention was paid to the issues of further expanding the Uzbek-Turkish relations of a comprehensive strategic partnership, deepening multifaceted cooperation, primarily in the political, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres.

The current highest level of bilateral interaction, ongoing intensive contacts and exchanges at all levels were noted with satisfaction.

Indicators of mutual trade turnover and investment are growing, the number of joint projects and enterprises, and the frequency of flights are increasing. Mutual cultural events are held.

On the eve of the visit, a business forum was successfully held, as a result of which a solid portfolio of new projects was formed in the field of industry, green energy, electrical engineering, textiles, pharmaceutical industries, the agricultural sector and other areas, including within the framework of the public-private partnership program.

Governments have been tasked with bringing trade turnover to $5 billion, including by expanding the list of products within Preferential trade agreements. An agreement was reached on the creation of a trade mission of Uzbekistan in the city of Istanbul.

The decision taken to establish an Uzbek-Turkish Business Council chaired by the heads of the two states, the first meeting of which will take place today, was noted with satisfaction.

Issues of expanding mutually beneficial partnerships in the field of agriculture, water resources management and digitalization were also considered.

The need to further strengthen and coordinate interaction in the field of security and defense, countering terrorism, extremism and radicalism was emphasized.

The parties agreed to continue active cultural and humanitarian exchanges. Special attention is paid to issues of cooperation in the fields of education, healthcare, tourism and sports. Particular attention is paid to the need to create the most favorable conditions for mutual trips of citizens of the two countries.

The leaders of Uzbekistan and Türkiye also discussed current issues on the regional and international agenda, in particular the development of the situation in Afghanistan.
