The law provides new opportunities for the telecommunications sector

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the forty-eighth plenary meeting of the Senate, the Law “On amendments to certain legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan aimed at improving conditions for expanding Internet and communications coverage on the territory of the republic” was discussed.

Currently, the rapid development of satellite communications in the world, the introduction of new technologies in this area creates new technological opportunities to improve conditions for expanding Internet coverage and modern high-quality communications in the republic.

However, the lack of sufficient conditions for the development of satellite communication networks in our country, as one of the types of international telecommunications networks, and the high level of state duty for engaging in this type of activity, prevent the use of this means of communication in local networks, as well as the further expansion of Internet and communication coverage in mountainous areas. and hard-to-reach regions.

This Law amends the laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On State Duty” and “On Licensing, Permits and Notification Procedures”, providing for the addition of existing subtypes of licensing activities relating to mobile radiotelephone (radiotelephone, trunk) communications with such activities as design, construction, operation and provision of mobile satellite communication network services on the territory of the republic, as well as clarification of the name of the republican executive body.

The senators noted that this law serves to ensure coverage of the territory of the republic with high-speed Internet and high-quality communications, the development of satellite communication networks, as well as the further expansion of opportunities in the field of telecommunications.

The law was approved by senators.
