The law on the prevention and treatment of narcotic diseases is being improved

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the forty-second plenary session of the Senate, the Law "On amendments and additions to the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan" On the prevention and treatment of narcological diseases" was actively discussed.

It was noted that in recent years, comprehensive measures have been taken in the republic to prevent, diagnose and treat narcological diseases, develop medical and social rehabilitation of people suffering from narcological diseases.

At the same time, at present, there is a need to draw up materials on the referral for compulsory treatment of persons suffering from drug addiction, not only on the basis of petitions from drug treatment institutions, family members (relatives), but also at the initiative of the internal affairs bodies.

In this regard, this Law is being amended to provide for the empowerment of the internal affairs bodies to draw up materials on the referral of persons suffering from drug addiction for compulsory treatment, as well as to determine the procedure for preparing these materials.

Another addition is the establishment of state guarantees for examination, counseling, diagnosis, as well as treatment and medical and social rehabilitation of people suffering from drug addiction in outpatient and inpatient settings.

In addition, a rule is being introduced that all clinical examinations related to determining the need for compulsory treatment of a person suffering from drug addiction are carried out in a drug treatment dispensary, and, if necessary, in other medical institutions where appropriate specialists are available.

According to the senators, the adoption of this Law will expand the circle of persons initiating the referral for compulsory treatment of persons suffering from drug addiction, prevent the commission of offenses and further improve the quality and efficiency of drug treatment.

The law was approved by the senators.
