The law establishes work to raise public awareness of the activities of health authorities

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At present, in our republic, there is a need to raise public awareness of the results of reforms in the healthcare sector, the activities of territorial health authorities, primary health care institutions, as well as ensuring the openness of the activities of these bodies and institutions.

It was noted that the Law “On amendments and additions to certain legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan aimed at raising public awareness of the activities of health authorities” considered at the forty-fourth plenary session of the Senate would allow finding a solution to the above problems.

This Law introduces important additions to the Law “On Local Government”.

In particular, according to the Law, according to the results of the six months, local Kengashes of people’s deputies, respectively, will hear reports from the heads of territorial health authorities, district (city) medical associations on the implementation of state health development programs, the state of disease prevention, the formation of a healthy lifestyle and proper nutrition, as well as on key health indicators.

As a result of hearing the reports of the heads of the regional health departments and the head of the Tashkent city health department, the effectiveness of their activities will be assessed by the relevant Kengash of people’s deputies.

In addition, an amendment is being made to the Law “On Self-Government Bodies of Citizens”, which provides for the hearing by citizens’ gatherings of information from the heads of central district (city) multidisciplinary polyclinics to which the population is attached, family polyclinics and family doctor points about the state of health protection and factors affecting the health of citizens , including the sanitary and epidemiological well-being of the relevant territory.

The senators stressed that the adoption of this Law serves to ensure the openness of the activities of health authorities, as well as to further increase public awareness of the state of medical care.

After questions and answers and discussions at the meeting, this Law was approved by the senators.
