Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 15 May, the International Conference of CIS Librarians, the press service of the CIS Executive Committee said.

About 30 managers and leading specialists of national libraries of the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States, Moscow State and St. Petersburg State Institutes of Culture, state children's and youth libraries, border libraries of Central Asia will gather together to discuss topical issues of modern library development, issues of presentation of printed and handwritten heritage in the digital environment, reading promotion programs, modern information and communication technologies in libraries.

The following events are planned as part of the conference:

plenary session;

scientific and practical seminar “Information culture of the digital generation: new directions for the implementation of the project “Formation of media and information literacy of children and youth in libraries of Uzbekistan”;

a special introductory meeting of directors of cross-border libraries of Central Asia within the framework of the activities of the Eurasian Library Assembly “Cross-border cooperation of libraries: new prospects for international interaction” (with video connection of representatives of the Russian State Library);

ceremony of signing Cooperation Agreements between: the National Library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi and the Russian State Library; Information and Library Center of the Khorezm Region named after Mahmud Zamakhshari and the Central City Public Library named after Vladimir Vladimirovich Mayakovsky;

Information and Library Center of Surkhandarya Region named after Adib Sobir Termezi and Central Scientific Library named after Indira Gandhi of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan.

Delegates will also visit libraries in the Samarkand region and take part in the XVII International Conference “Central Asia - 2024: Internet and information and library resources in science, education, culture and business”, which will be held on 17 May in Jizzakh.
