Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 30 October, the Chairman of the Senate Committee of the Oliy Majlis on Women and Gender Equality M. Kadirkhanova held a meeting with the senior economist of the World Bank, Ms. Ikuko Uochi, dedicated to the presentation of the Gender Equality Assessment Report in Uzbekistan.

It was attended by senators, representatives of the World Bank, as well as relevant ministries and departments.

It should be noted that strategic cooperation has been established between Uzbekistan and the World Bank, and a number of projects have been implemented in some areas.

During the conversation, issues of human capital development, ensuring gender equality, as well as the current state and prospects of projects implemented by the World Bank were discussed.

Currently, work is underway in the public service to ensure equal rights and opportunities for women and men.

The representative of the World Bank was informed in detail about the large-scale reforms being carried out in our country, about all the changes and updates that are taking place, as well as ensuring gender equality, increasing the socio-political activity of women, their role in managing state affairs, and youth policy.

They also talked about changes and additions to some legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with the further improvement of the system of reliable protection of the rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of women and children.

Following the meeting, representatives of the World Bank gave a positive assessment of the work being carried out on the above projects, and an agreement was reached on further improving cooperation.
