Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Alpomysh and Barchinoy international archery competitions have started at the capital’s Republican Training Center for Olympic and Paralympic sports. Today, the solemn opening ceremony of the tournament, which is held for the second time in a row, took place.

The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Sports Development Shakhrillo Makhmudov, Secretary General of the NOC Oybek Kasimov, representatives of the National Guard of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the country’s Archery Federation.

Speaking at the sports festival, officials noted that the high achievements in this sport, as well as the expansion of the geography of the popularity of this discipline, are all thanks to the close attention from the state for the development and popularization of archery among the population. This year, in addition to our compatriots, about 100 athletes from Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, the United Arab Emirates, and Kyrgyzstan are fighting for victory.

From today, the qualifying round of the competition began. On 26 August, winners and prize-winners in all directions will be determined.
