Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At a meeting of the Government of Ukraine, a resolution was adopted on withdrawal from three Cooperation Agreements, which were signed within the CIS. The decision was made due to the discrepancy between these treaties and the national interests of the state.

Since 2014, Ukraine has stopped paying contributions to the CIS. In 2018, the representative office at the statutory bodies of the CIS was closed and the process of leaving the CIS began.

Earlier, Ukraine has already withdrawn from a number of other agreements of the CIS member states: a) on the creation of a Council of Heads of Financial Intelligence Units; b) on cooperation in the field of foreign economic activity; c) on ensuring the safety of interstate secrets in the field of legal protection and inventions; d) on the interstate exchange of economic information, as well as tax agreements.

According to the decision of the Government of Ukraine, the following agreements were denounced.

First, it is an agreement on cooperation in the preparation and advanced training of military personnel for the border troops of the Commonwealth states (from 1995, Moscow), which envisages the training of professional military personnel for border troops and reliable protection of the borders of the Commonwealth member states. Ukraine all this time was only an observer and did not join a number of documents in this direction.

Secondly, it is an agreement on cooperation in the field of culture (from 1992, Tashkent). It was noted that such ties with Russia had been terminated a long time ago, which is associated with the counterproductive activities of the Russian Federation towards Ukraine. New agreements have been signed with other CIS states, which makes the old agreement impractical.

Thirdly, it is an agreement on the creation of the Council for Cultural Cooperation of the CIS Member States (from 1995, Moscow), in connection with the denunciation of the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Culture.

In general, according to experts, the gradual withdrawal of Kiev from the agreements, which has been carried out for several years, will complicate Ukraine’s cooperation with the CIS countries. Common standards existing within the Commonwealth simplify interaction between countries and in the event of a complete withdrawal from the CIS, Ukraine will have to conclude bilateral agreements with each of its members
