Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The 2021 Global Digital Economy Conference opened in Beijing today. Forum participants will focus on issues of more effective use of digital technologies, according to Xinhua News Agency.

With the global economy still in a fragile recovery, the digital economy is becoming the key to achieving economic recovery and promoting sustainable development, Zhuang Rongwen, head of the State Chancellery of Internet Information of the People’s Republic of China, said at the opening ceremony.

The digital economy has become the new engine of China’s economic development, and its industrial base has been further strengthened.

China has built the world’s largest fiber optic networks, as well as 4G and 5G mobile broadband networks, the number of terminal connections to the 5G network has exceeded 365 million, the use cases for 5G technologies are becoming more extensive, said Minister of Industry and Informatization of the PRC Xiao Yaqing.

The two-day event is co-organized by the People’s Government of Beijing and several ministerial-level ministries, including the State Development and Reform Committee, the Ministry of Industry and Informatization, and the State Internet Information Office.
