The first tourist mahalla opened in Samarkand

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- For the first time in Uzbekistan, in the city of Samarkand, the Bogi Baland mahalla was awarded the status of a “tourist village”.

Speaking at the event held in Samarkand, Chairman of the Tourism Committee Umid Chodiev noted that the new tourist area will serve to further increase the number of local and foreign tourists.

“Thanks to the creation of a “tourist mahalla”, the ecological environment of Samarkand region will be further improved,” said Umid Chodiev. “It is also a new recreation area for local residents. It is important to note that additional jobs have been created,” the chairman added.

It is worth noting that there are 15 recreation areas on the territory of the tourist mahalla, and signs, racks and a map of the park have been installed for tourists. Various ornamental and fruit trees and flower seedlings were also planted.

Also in the tourist area, a fair of handicrafts, figs, dried and canned products is organized.

In addition, the activities of the tourist information center have been launched, where all the necessary information for tourists is located.

Bogi Baland in Samarkand is one of the famous surviving gardens, created by Amir Timur. There are currently over 10,000 yellow and black fig trees in the 40-hectare garden. Fruits are environmentally friendly, since no chemicals and preparations are used in their cultivation.

Objects of resort, industrial tourism, agro-tourism, ethno-tourism, pilgrimage, medical and archaeological tourism in the region have become a favorite vacation spot for tourists.
