The first summit of the “Central Asia - USA” format is not directed against any country

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The first summit of the Central Asia-US format (C5+1), which will be held this week in New York, is not directed against any country, National Security Advisor to the US President Jake Sullivan stated this on 15 September.

The first-ever meeting of the heads of the United States and five Central Asian countries - Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan will be held in New York.

Sullivan recalled that the dialogue in the C5+1 format actually began in 2015. “It grew stronger in subsequent years. And now for the first time we will see a meeting at the level of leaders,” he noted.

US and Central Asian leaders will discuss a range of issues, from regional security to trade and connectivity, climate change and ongoing reforms to improve governance and the rule of law, the US presidential adviser noted.

Jake Sullivan added that this summit is not aimed against any country. "It’s about a positive agenda that we want to work on with these countries," he said.

According to him, the leaders of the countries plan to adopt a joint statement that will outline specific things that the countries intend to work on together in key areas, and the United States will provide certain resources in order to do this effectively.
