The experience of New Uzbekistan in achieving "green development" received special recognition

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In Tashkent, as part of the Week of International Partnership Initiatives on the theme "New Uzbekistan: development, innovation and education", the International Conference "Green Development": Experience of New Uzbekistan and global trends" was held.

The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change Jusipbek Kazbekov, Director General of the Regional Bureau of the International Union for Conservation of Nature for Eastern Europe and Central Asia Boris Erg (Switzerland), Head of the Green Central Asia Program of the German Society for International Cooperation Caroline Milo (Germany), Acting Head of the Representative Office of the Global Green Growth Institute in Uzbekistan Jin Ha Kim (Korea), World Bank Senior Specialist on Natural Resources Asferachyu Abate, Specialist of the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in Uzbekistan Rusyan Jill Mamiit and other experts.

At the event, Deputy Minister of Ecology Jusipbek Kazbekov made a presentation on the changes taking place in the field of ecology of our country and the experience of New Uzbekistan in the field of "green development".

Also, international experts drew attention to a number of topical issues. In particular, Boris Erg, Director General of the Regional Bureau of the International Union for Conservation of Nature for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, touched upon such issues as “Environmental protection, conservation of biological diversity, expansion of protected natural areas, rational use of natural resources, cooperation in the field of green restoration and combat with climate change." In his report, he also focused on cooperation within the framework of joint grant projects “Food system, land use and ecosystem restoration in Uzbekistan”, “Sustainable forest management in mountainous and valley regions of Uzbekistan”, “Improving landscape resilience to zoonotic diseases by strengthening the protection system nature in Central Asia.

Caroline Milo, Head of the Green Central Asia Program of the German Society for International Cooperation, spoke about the activities and initiatives implemented within the framework of the Green Central Asia initiative. In addition, she shared her opinion on the implementation of the project "Green Central Asia: Cross-Border Dialogue on Climate, Environment and Security in Central Asia and Afghanistan".

In addition, during the event, World Bank Senior Specialist for Natural Resources Asferachyu Abate spoke about expanding the dialogue on ecosystem issues between the countries of Central Asia as part of the implementation of the regional project "Sustainable Landscapes of Central Asia" (RESILAND CA +), funded by the World Bank. Acting Head of the Representative Office of the Global Green Growth Institute in Uzbekistan, Jin Ha Kim, presented the expansion of the range of measures implemented in the Aral Sea region as part of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) Joint Project “Investing in Green Restoration of the Aral Sea Region to Overcome the Consequences of the Aral Sea Crisis”.

Also, Rusyan Jill Mamiit, a specialist from the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in Uzbekistan, shared his vision on the development of new projects and initiatives in the direction of managing the quality of water and land resources in the Republic of Uzbekistan with the participation of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.

It is worth noting that during the event, the experience of New Uzbekistan in achieving "green development" received special recognition from the international community. It was also emphasized that it is necessary to fully adapt to world standards and carry out a number of other important works in the field of environmental protection.

The Week of International Partnership Initiatives on the theme “New Uzbekistan: Development, Innovation and Education” will last until 7 July.
