The Embassy of Uzbekistan has taken control of the situation related to the theft of money from fellow citizens in Gurugram

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Indian news agency “Press Trust of India” disseminated information that a group of people in police uniform stole the money of a citizen of Uzbekistan in the city of Gurugram, Dunyo news agency reported.

In Sector 53, Gurugram, three brothers returning to their hotel around 9:00 pm on Saturday were stopped by a group of policemen allegedly on the pretext of checking documents. During the search of the bags, they stole US$16,000 and fled.

A citizen of Uzbekistan, who introduced himself by the name B.S., was in India for a kidney transplant at the Artemis Hospital in Gurugram.

B.S. contacted the local police department regarding this incident. “The people in the car introduced themselves as police officers, showed their identification cards and said that they needed to check our bags,” the official statement noted.

Currently, an investigation is underway at the Sector 53 police station in Gurugram under sections 379A (theft), 419 (cheating by impersonation) and other sections of the Indian Criminal Law.

The Embassy of our country held official negotiations with the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other relevant departments, and the situation was brought under control.

The diplomatic mission calls on compatriots not to succumb to the words and promises of various dubious groups or persons when staying in India for various purposes, including for treatment, to strictly observe personal safety requirements, especially in situations related to financial issues, not to use large amounts of cash, use bank cards or money transfers.
