The Economic Forum of Uzbekistan-2022 starts in Samarkand

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Economic Forum of Uzbekistan-2022 on the theme "Human interests at the center of economic reforms" started in Samarkand.

Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sherzod Asadov opened the forum with a Message from President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the participants, emphasizing the importance of expanding interaction and exchange of views with international partners. The vice-presidents of the World Bank Anna Bjerde and the Asian Development Bank Shiksin Chen also speak.

In the year since the first Economic Forum of Uzbekistan, geopolitical issues, disruption of supply chains, climate disasters, high inflation and other problems have created many challenges even for the world’s strongest economies.

Our country is addressing these and other emerging issues, being in the process of a radical transformation towards an open and sustainable economy, the main force of which is the private sector. The trials serve as another confirmation of the urgent need to move forward and continue reforms based on the New Uzbekistan Development Strategy, developed under the leadership of the head of state.

The first plenary session is devoted to the socio-economic progress achieved by the country and ambitious plans that will bring the republic forward in the near future. Particular attention is paid to the vital importance of cooperation with international partners, other states and business representatives.

The discussions were attended by Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Kuchkarov, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Jamshid Khodjaev, Vice President of the World Bank Anna Bjerde, representatives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Asian Development Bank, Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank and TBC Group.
