Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) of the Russian Federation Sergei Naryshkin visited Uzbekistan and held negotiations with the head of the country’s State Security Service Abdusalom Azizov. RIA Novosti reports this with reference to a report from the SVR.
“During the meeting held in Tashkent, key aspects of cooperation between the two intelligence services, as well as the prospects and priorities of their joint work in the near future were discussed,” the official statement said.
The parties emphasized the positive and mutually beneficial nature of cooperation between their organizations, which is important for protecting the national interests of both Russia and Uzbekistan
The meeting participants also emphasized “the similarity in assessments of the situation in Central Asia and discussed a number of issues that have a direct impact on the security of both countries.”
Particular attention was paid to joint efforts in the fight against international terrorism, the exchange of intelligence information on a wide range of regional and international issues, as well as strengthening joint potential to counter modern threats and challenges, the press service of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service reports.
