Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Chairwoman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva in France held talks with Deputy Director General of the French Development Agency (AfD) Bertrand Walckenaer.

It is important to note that the Agency is an important partner of Uzbekistan and has been cooperating with our country for more than 12 years, investing in areas such as climate change, hydropower, water supply and sanitation, solid waste management and animal husbandry.

In a conversation, Bertrand Walckenaer emphasized qualitatively new dynamics of bilateral cooperation, in particular, through the AfD, noting that its foundation was laid during the official visit of the President of Uzbekistan to France in November 2022. by signing a new Cooperation Program until 2025.

“The development strategy of New Uzbekistan is fully supported by the AfD and coincides with its mission to ensure the economic, social and environmental development of the republic,” Bertrand Walckenaer noted.

During the dialogue, it was noted that the Agency intends to continue to actively participate in the reform processes in Uzbekistan through the implementation of projects and programs that are in demand. In particular, readiness was expressed to contribute to projects for the development of renewable energy sources, the modernization of agriculture, ensuring gender equality and supporting women's entrepreneurship.

Following the meeting, the parties also reached an agreement on the need to study the issue of attracting financial resources of the AfD for the implementation of environmentally innovative projects for the introduction of energy and water saving technologies, the development of agriculture, and environmental protection in Karakalpakstan.
