According to the civil protection department of the republic, about 5.7 thousand people were injured, 3.2 thousand of them were hospitalized. The search for people under the rubble continues.
An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.2 hit the Haiti area on Saturday morning. The epicenter was located 40 km from the Le Quet commune with a population of about 125 thousand people, the focus lay at a depth of 10 km. The Departments South, Grand Anse and Nipp were hardest hit. They recorded the destruction of medical and religious institutions. The government imposed a state of emergency for a month.
