Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 3 July, at about 7:40 am, a Gentra car was stolen at one of the car washes in Mirabad district of the capital.

In connection with the incident in Tashkent, a special interception plan was implemented to catch a citizen who stole a car.

The suspect was driving a car at high speed and did not obey the traffic lights and the legal requirements of traffic police inspectors.

Based on the information received, it was established that the vehicle was moving along Makhtumkuli Street from Mirzo Ulugbek Street in the direction of “Yangi Uzbekiston Park”.

At 9:45 at the intersection of Makhtumkuli Street, the inspectors of the Tashkent Internal Affairs Directorate blocked the road, and measures were taken to stop the stolen car. However, the suspect refused to stop, disobeying the lawful demands of traffic police inspectors, he went to the side of oncoming traffic, endangering the life and health of citizens.

As a result of the maneuvers, the hijacker deliberately caused technical damage to 3 cars and threatened the lives of police officers.

As a result of the operational measures taken, the person who stole the car was detained by the officers of Tashkent city police.

When detaining a person who committed a crime, in order to prevent other more serious consequences, based on the requirements of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Internal Affairs Bodies", the employees used firearms. No one was hurt during the use of weapons.

In connection with the above situation, a criminal case was initiated under article 267 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan (“Car theft”). The suspect was detained in a procedural order. The investigation is ongoing.
