The CIS to receive a medal “For contribution to strengthening peace”

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A medal “For contribution to strengthening peace” was established in the Commonwealth of Independent States. The corresponding decision was made on 13 October in Bishkek by the participants of the meeting of the Council of Heads of states of the CIS. This was reported by the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.

The medal will become a single interstate insignia of distinction, reflecting recognition of the special personal merits of citizens of the CIS countries, as well as representatives (citizens) of other states. It will be awarded for active work to ensure international peace and security, holding international events aimed at maintaining peace, developing multifaceted cooperation and friendly relations between countries and peoples.

The award is presented for personal contribution to the development of international military cooperation, peacekeeping and humanitarian demining, for excellence in conducting political, cultural, sports, humanitarian events and actions aimed at maintaining peace, developing friendly relations and establishing humanistic values, for other merits and personal contribution to ensuring the peaceful development of member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Citizens of other states can be awarded for a special personal contribution to the development of interaction with the CIS countries on issues of maintaining peace, facilitating humanitarian missions, developing cooperation, participating in the preparation and conduct of peacekeeping, humanitarian, educational, cultural and sports events (actions).

The proposal to award the medal “For contribution to the strengthening of peace” will be made upon the proposal of the authorized bodies of the CIS member states. The lists of recipients will be approved by the Council of Defense Ministers of the Commonwealth countries.
