The CIS proposes to develop a draft agreement on the mutual recognition of documents on academic degrees

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Commonwealth of Independent States proposes to develop a draft agreement on the mutual recognition of documents on academic degrees. The prospects for concluding an agreement were discussed at a meeting of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Valery Falkov with representatives of the CIS countries. This was reported by the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.

A meeting of the Higher Attestation Commission under the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia was also held, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the creation of the Higher Attestation Commission in the USSR, on the topic “On the peculiarities of awarding academic degrees in the CIS member states.”

The events were attended by heads of certification bodies for scientific and scientific-pedagogical personnel and other representatives from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The Executive Committee of the Commonwealth was represented at the meetings by Galina Kazak, Advisor to the Department of Humanitarian Cooperation, General Political and Social Problems.

Chairman of the Higher Attestation Commission, member of the Council for Cooperation in the Field of Education of the CIS Member States, Vladimir Filippov presented analytical materials of a study conducted to study the state and prospects for the development of national certification systems for scientific and scientific-pedagogical personnel of the Commonwealth countries.

In turn, the heads of certification bodies of the CIS member states informed about the directions of development of certification systems for scientific personnel in their countries and supported the directions of further activities to prepare a draft agreement on the mutual recognition of documents on academic degrees.
