Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- These days, a delegation led by the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbaeva is in the city of Dushanbe of the Republic of Tajikistan to participate in the next meeting of the Dialogue of Women Leaders of Central Asia on the topic “Achieving gender equality in conditions of adaptation to change climate in Central Asia". As part of the visit, the Chairman of the Senate met with the Chairman of the Majlisi Milli of Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, Rustam Emomali.

At the beginning of the meeting, the parties emphasized that the two countries are close neighbors and reliable partners that have stood the test of time, our peoples are united by common history, religion, culture and traditions, and today the ties of friendship, cooperation and good neighborliness that have developed over many centuries are consistently developing.

During the friendly conversation, special attention was paid to the development and strengthening of bilateral ties, issues of further expansion of comprehensive cooperation between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, including trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian, and especially the effective organization of inter-parliamentary dialogue were discussed.

In particular, an exchange of views took place on further intensifying the activities of friendship groups created between the upper houses of parliaments of the two countries.

Trade and economic cooperation between our countries is strengthening. Trade and economic relations between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan have been developing at a rapid pace over the past five years. The need to establish joint work at the legislative level to bring the volume of mutual trade turnover to $1 billion in the near future was noted.

During the dialogue, the high level of interaction in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, the importance of organizing joint cultural events, including bilateral forums of intellectuals, joint concerts and tours of art masters, were noted. An agreement was also reached on taking effective measures to develop “pilgrimage tourism.”

At the end of the meeting, an agreement on cooperation was signed between the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Majlisi Milli of Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, which reflects issues of further strengthening inter-parliamentary relations, joint parliamentary monitoring of the implementation of agreements reached at the highest level, and continuation of close cooperation within the framework of international parliamentary structures .

The parties also agreed to develop and adopt a “Road Map” to improve the mechanism for joint monitoring of the implementation of agreements reached during high-level visits, exchange experience in the field of parliamentary activities, and improve relations between deputies of border regions and districts.
