The car market of Uzbekistan — CERR review

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR) analyzes the situation on the automobile market of Uzbekistan on a monthly basis.

By the end of July, sales of motor vehicles increased by 17% to 144.5 thousand. At the same time, compared to July last year, sales growth was 40%.

Passenger cars

The total number of passenger cars sold in July exceeded 132 thousand, with an increase of 20%.

The most noticeable growth was recorded in Bukhara (+36%), Syrdarya (+35%) and Surkhandarya (+31%) regions.

Compared to July last year, passenger car sales increased by 39%.

The situation in the primary car market

In general, sales of new passenger cars in the primary market increased by 19.2% over the month. The growth compared to last year was 64.5%.

In July, sales in the segment of new passenger cars of domestic production increased significantly. 29.6 thousand cars were sold, which is 24% more than in June and 59.3% more than in the same period last year.

The market of passenger cars

For July, 4.9 thousand new foreign-made passenger cars were sold. This is 2.7 times higher than the same indicator in July 2022.

The situation in the secondary car market

The secondary car market of passenger cars in July was marked by an increase in sales. 97.6 thousand passenger cars were sold during the month, which is 17.6% more than a month earlier. At the same time, an even more noticeable increase of 30% was noted compared to July last year.

Electric vehicle market

During the month, sales of passenger electric vehicles increased by 28.9% to 2.7 thousand cars. The largest number of electric vehicles sold was recorded in the city of Tashkent (1.9 thousand), Tashkent (153) and Khorezm (117) regions.

The primary market of electric vehicles amounted to 2.3 thousand with an increase by 37.5% by June, which is 4.7 times higher than in July 2022.

The secondary market of electric vehicles was marked by a decline in sales. In general, 318 units were sold during the month, with a drop of 15.2% over the month. However, compared to July 2022 – an increase of 67%.
