Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 18 November, the International Hotel Tashkent hosted the Digital Business Women 2022 conference. The event was attended by Adviser to the Minister for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan Kamola Sobirova, as well as Acting Head of the Digital Transformation Department of IT Park Madina Musurmankulova.

Chairperson of the Association of Business Women of Uzbekistan Gulnara Makhmudova, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to Uzbekistan Jonathan Henick, OSCE Project Coordinator in Uzbekistan Hans-Ulrich Ihm, as well as long-term expert and representative of the Savings Banks Fund for International Cooperation of Germany Matthias Wangler and others made speeches at the conference.

Each of the speakers put forward ideas for the implementation by the government of Uzbekistan of a policy to support women’s entrepreneurship in the field of digital business: the development of main directions and mechanisms.

Kamola Sobirova spoke on the topic “Increasing the participation of women entrepreneurs in the development of the IT industry in Uzbekistan”. In her presentation, she spoke about the activities carried out by the Government of Uzbekistan to attract women to the ICT industry and the opportunities created by the Ministry of ICT for women entrepreneurs.

Madina Musurmankulova spoke about women’s projects supported by IT Park. In particular, special attention was paid to Tumaris.Tech, one of the largest projects implemented by IT Park Uzbekistan jointly with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

The Tumaris.Tech program provides comprehensive support to women’s entrepreneurial initiatives. In 2022, the project entered the Central Asian stage. The success of the women’s project was marked by an international prize: this year "Tumaris Tech" was named the best international project in the field of "Capacity building" by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). According to the results of the same project: more than 200 women were trained; 120 startup projects have passed the incubation and acceleration program; 100 specialists in IT entrepreneurship were trained.

Also at the event, representatives of several large organizations and their leaders discussed plans and prospects for supporting women in business.
