Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A military transport aircraft of the Air Force of the Ministry of Defense of Uzbekistan delivered to Urgench the bodies of eight citizens who died as a result of an road accident in Penza region of Russia.

The road accident occurred on the night of 11 January 2024.

The tragedy occurred around 03:00 (local time) on the 504th kilometer of the M-5 Ural highway.

The driver of a JAC minivan, moving towards Moscow, drove into the oncoming lane and collided with a Volvo truck.

Earlier it was reported that 7 citizens of Uzbekistan were killed as a result of the accident. Two more people were injured as a result of the accident. One of them later died in intensive care. All the dead were from Khorezm region.

On instructions from the President of Uzbekistan, the plane of the Ministry of Defense of Uzbekistan delivered the bodies of the victims from Saratov to Uzbekistan. One victim remains in hospital in the Russian Federation.
