Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In January 2019, the BBC World Service channel broadcasts a documentary on the Silk Road dedicated to the culture, traditions and everyday life of the peoples living on the weekends. along the historic trade route, Dunyo reports.

Before each news release, that is, hourly, Uzbek classical music selected for the movie’s commercial is heard from the TV screen.

The three-part documentary The Silk Road was shot by the BBC creative team in collaboration with UNWTO. The shooting took place in key cities along the route from China to the Middle East, including the historical settlements of Uzbekistan. The author is British historian and TV presenter Sam Willis, who has shot more than 10 documentaries for the BBC and National Geographic.

The film tells about the important role of the Silk Road in the development of trade, scientific, cultural and humanitarian ties between the peoples of the East and West, which made a huge contribution to the development of world civilization.

The second series of the trilogy (aired on 12 January) was devoted to Central Asia, which, as the author notes, “is the most famous, but still not fully explored part of the Great Silk Road”.

According to the authors of the film, this region is a place of major scientific discoveries, the birthplace of great historical figures. In particular, it was noted that the outstanding scientists of Central Asia made an invaluable contribution to the development of world science, having a positive impact on the revival of science and culture in the West. The film tells about the rich scientific heritage of the great scientist Al Khorezmi, who left an indelible mark on mathematics, astronomy, geography, history and other fields of science.

It also emphasized that the inhabitants of the region, known as skilled traders and entrepreneurs, played a key role in the development of the Great Silk Road.

“The architectural masterpieces erected by the great commander Amir Temur and his heirs still amaze the imagination with their beauty and grandeur,” the author tells.

Indeed, the plot of the film reveals to the viewer the beauty of the historical cities of Uzbekistan - Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva. In a word, the author was able to convey the special significance of the Uzbek land, which continues to remain a bridge between the East and the West today and attracts with its unique oriental flavor and intensive modern development.
