Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Consul General of Uzbekistan in Bangkok Fakhriddin Sultanov met with the governor of the Thai province of Phuket Sophon Suwannarath, Dunyo news agency reported.

The event was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, the Phuket Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Tourism Association, law enforcement agencies and local media. At the beginning of the event, a detailed presentation of the trade, economic, investment and tourism potential of Uzbekistan took place.

The Thai side was provided with detailed information about the changes taking place in our country, favorable conditions for foreign investors and international trade. Plans to develop mutual trade between Uzbekistan and Thailand and provide various benefits to attract tourists were highlighted.

Issues of expanding bilateral cooperation and establishing interregional ties between Uzbekistan and Thailand in the trade, economic, investment and consular spheres were also discussed.

The main topics of the dialogue were the signing of a memorandum on the sister cities of Samarkand and Phuket, the development of pilgrimage tourism in Uzbekistan for the Muslim population of Thailand.

As a result of the meeting, it was decided to organize a trip to Uzbekistan in 2024 for representatives of the Phuket tourism administration, as well as local aviation and travel companies.
