The 6th session of the UN Environment Assembly begins in Nairobi

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of Uzbekistan led by the Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change Aziz Abdukhakimov participated in the opening ceremony of the 6th session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-6), which takes place from 26 February to 1 March in Nairobi (Kenya).

UNEA-6 will focus on tackling the triple planetary crisis of climate change, loss of the natural environment and biodiversity, as well as pollution and increasing waste. Drawing on strong science, political resolve and public engagement, the Assembly will provide an opportunity for world governments, civil society groups, academia and business to shape global environmental policy.

The program of the 5-day session includes plenary sessions, side events on human mobility under climate change, environmental pollution, loss of biodiversity and other current issues, press conferences and high-level dialogues.

During the event, Aziz Abdukhakimov will hold a number of meetings with Assembly participants aimed at strengthening cooperation in the field of environmental protection and preventing the loss of biodiversity.
