Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 14-20 July 2023, the XVII Asian Chess Championship among schoolchildren was held in our capital, where 400 talented athletes from 16 countries of our continent fought for victory in the rapid, standard and blitz directions.
The current competition has created a platform for a real school of skill and exchange of experience for young chess players in our country, as well as a serious test of their capabilities. More than 20 international arbitrators carefully watched the course of the games. In their age categories, many of our representatives won medals of various samples. A total of 108 medals were awarded to the winners.
Representatives of India, Mongolia and Uzbekistan managed to maintain their leadership positions. In terms of the total number of medals, the team of Uzbekistan is at the top of the podium with 12 gold, 9 silver and 16 bronze medals, the Mongolian team took second place with 8 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze medals, as well as the Indian team with 7 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze medals.
The solemn closing ceremony of the championship was held in a special solemn atmosphere, because 20 July is the International Chess Day. This holiday as a day of chess has been celebrated all over the world since 1966. During the event, the officials who helped organize the competition received memorable gifts from the federation.
Umida Omonova, who won the world championship among youth in the rapid direction, became the champion of the continent in her age category, and Nilufar Imomkozieva, Malika Norkulova and Ezozbek Makhmudov received gold medals in this category. Umida Omonova had no equal in blitz either. Zilola Aktamova, Malika Djumaeva, Dilnoza Nurillaeva, Lazizbek Shavkatov and Malika Norkulova became the owners of a high standard medal.
In the classical direction, Guldona Karimova and Asrorjon Omonovlar took the place at the top of the pedestal.
It should be noted that at this Asian Championship, one of the partners of the tournament, ID Chezz, conducted a live broadcast of each game, which made it possible to detect violations of the game rules in time and ensure the transparency of each tournament. So, the exciting Asian Championship among schoolchildren has come to an end. Now young chess players will prepare for the upcoming international competitions.
