The 11th batch of anti-hepatitis C drugs provided by the Egyptian government has been delivered to Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In pursuance of the agreements reached during the official visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Egypt on 20-21 February 2023, as well as the initiative put forward in the election program of the head of our state that the treatment of hepatitis C will be carried out in the country at public expense, following negotiations with the Egyptian Ministry of Health, another batch of the Daclatasvir drug against hepatitis C, allocated as humanitarian aid, was sent to our country.

On 22 July, Uzbekistan Airways flight from Sharm el-Sheikh to Tashkent delivered the eleventh batch of this humanitarian aid. 1,280 packages of Daclatasvir-60 mg in 80 boxes will be donated to patients at the Research Institute of Virology under the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan.

In this regard, it should be noted that Egypt has made significant progress in the fight against hepatitis B and C viruses at the international level. According to the Egyptian Ministry of Health, the population of the country has completely recovered from this disease.

This was announced by the Minister of Health of Egypt Khalid Abdugaffar, speaking at the 76th session of the World Health Organization, which was held in Geneva on 21-30 May 2023.

WHO is expected to provide the Government of Egypt with a certificate of complete elimination of hepatitis C in that country. Thus, Egypt, which has suffered from this disease for many years, becomes the first country in the world that has managed to cope with this disease.
