Thailand qualify for final round
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A 3-3 draw with Vietnam helped Thailand qualify for the final round of the 2012 London Olympics Asian women’s qualifiers on Sunday.

Thailand finished with seven points, a point more than Uzbekistan and three ahead of Vietnam. The Thais will join the top five teams of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games edition - Japan, China, DPR Korea, Korea Republic and Australia – in the final round, which is a one-round league format to be played from 1-11 September, with the top two finishers getting to represent Asia at the 2012 London Olympics.

Goals from Le Thi Thuong and Nguyen Thi Muon gave Vietnam a 2-0 lead but an own goal by Nguyen Hai Hoa handed Thailand their first in the 18th minute. Kanjana Sung-Ngoen restored parity for the Thais five minutes before the half hour mark.

Le Thu Thanh Huong again put Vietnam ahead in the 37th minute but Wilaiporn Boothduang earned a point for her side with a 84th-minute strike.

Earlier, Wilaiporn Boothduang, Nuengruethai Phaikhet, Junpen Seesraum, Pitsmai Sornsai, Dangda Taneekarn and Nisa Romyen (two) helped the Thais thrash hosts Jordan 7-0 while Uzbekistan outclass Vietnam 2-1, thanks to a brace from Makhliyo Sarikova. Nguyen Thi Muon pulled one back for Vietnam.
