Economy 17/08/2007 TGS acquires Uzbekistan well log data
TGS Geological Products and Services, a division of TGS-NOPEC Geophysical Company, has completed the acquisition phase of a project to bring Uzbekistan’s well log data into the company’s online search and access tool Log-Line Plus.

The dataset, which includes more than 55,000 logs from over 3,800 wells, is the first commercially-available source for well logs from this emerging hydrocarbon province.

With the in-country sourcing of the project complete, TGS’ acquisition experts will relocate to Kyrgyzstan to commence a similar scanning project in mid-September.

Based in Tashkent, a TGS/Uzbekgeofizika team indexed and scanned the country’s hardcopy well log assets, which were subsequently loaded into Log-Line Plus as part of an agreement to make the data available online.

The Kyrgyzstan project will be undertaken with a joint TGS and Kyrgyzneftegaz project team, based in Kochkarata, as part of a ten year agreement that was signed in late 2006.

Log-Line Plus is a global online repository representing well log assets from many of the world’s key hydrocarbon provinces.
