Tethys presents oil, gas potential in Central Asia at China Eurasia Investment Forum
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Tethys Petroleum Limited, a prominent oil and gas exploration and production company operating in Central Asia, was invited to attend The China Eurasia Investment Forum 2009 ("The Forum") held on 23 October at The Grand Millennium Beijing in China.

Dr David Robson, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Tethys, was honoured to be invited as a VIP speaker to the annual industry event. Dr Robson’s presentation focused on the exploitation potential of oil and gas in the Central Asian countries of Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

Dr Robson commented, "Central Asia has numerous sedimentary basins with both existing production and the potential for significant additional discoveries of major oil and natural gas deposits. Tajikistan and Uzbekistan are historically under explored energy-rich countries that have enormous potential for both oil and gas. Sharing borders with China, Kazakhstan has huge potential to supply more gas, oil and oil products to energy hungry economies in East Asia including China, representing a promising future for quality oil and gas exploration and production companies in Central Asia, like Tethys."

"We are a well-established oil and gas exploration and production company in Central Asia with a unique regional footprint. Tethys is by far the most active oil and gas exploration and production company in Tajikistan. We have mean unrisked resources of 690 million barrels of oil equivalent ("boe") in Kazakhstan and mid case unrisked resources of approximately 1.13 billion boe in Tajikistan. In Uzbekistan, we are currently producing over 2,000 barrels of oil per day under a Production Enhancement Contract and plan to significantly increase the throughput."

"We see the tremendous long term potential for growth in Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan within Tethys acreage and also attributed to the strategic positioning of transcontinental export routes. Central Asia is striving to become one of the major energy supply centres in the near future," concluded Dr Robson.

Other delegates of The Forum included oil and gas giant companies such as CNOOC, CNPC and Sinopec, and official authorities on finance, energy and mineral resources in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, China and Hong Kong.

The Forum covered regional economic, trade cooperation, oil, gas, and mining, investment opportunities and infrastructure in Eurasia. The Forum aims to bring together government officials, investors, financiers, resource companies, service providers and international financial institutions with a focus on investment and development opportunities between China and Eurasia.

Tethys Petroleum Limited is focused on oil and gas exploration and production activities in Central Asia with activities currently in the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan.
