Uzbekistan 02/07/2007 Tenth plenary session of Senate approved law on abolishing capital punishment

Tenth plenary session of the Senate of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan was held in Tashkent on 29-30 June.

Uzbekistan`s upper house of Oliy Majlis, the Senate adopted amendments to the constitution that would abolish use of the death penalty.

The amendments would replace capital punishment with life imprisonment.

The Senate will also considered and approved other laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
