Technologies 05/09/2014 TeliaSonera Vice-President visits Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of TeliaSonera led by Executive Vice President and Head of Region Eurasia Erik Hallberg visited the State Committee of Communication, Information and Telecommunication Technologies of Uzbekistan on 4 September 2014.

The press service of the committee said that the guests familiarized with current state and perspectives of development of telecommunication and mobile communication industries in Uzbekistan, work conducted in Uzbekistan directed at introducing information technologies in public administration and industries of the economy.

It was underlined that Coscom, subsidiary of TeliaSonera in Uzbekistan, successfully works in Uzbekistan and actively participates in introduction of new technologies and social life of the country.

At the meeting, new head of Coscom was presented. Tõnu Grünberg has been appointed as chief executive officer of Ucell. He will start his work in Uzbekistan on 15 September 2014.

The sides discussed issues of further cooperation o n introduction of modern telecommunication technologies and services in Uzbekistan.

TeliaSonera was founded in 2002 in the result of the merger of Swedish and Finnish telecommunications companies, Telia and Sonera. Currently, it is the largest telecommunication company in Europe.

TeliaSonera works in 20 countries of Europe and Asia with total population of over 460 million people. As of the beginning of 2014, the company has 190 million subscribers. TeliaSonerahas been working in Uzbekistan since 2007 under the trademark of Ucell.
