RIA Novosti reported that during the visit to Uzbekistan, Executive Vice President and Head of Region Eurasia Erik Hallberg raised the issue of conversion of income of the company into hard currency at the talks with the Uzbek officials. The agency reported that the Uzbek officials refused to provide conversion of currency.

The source of RIA Novosti in Uzbek mobile market confirmed that there were talks on possible sale of Coscom during the visit of TeliaSonera delegation to Uzbekistan. The results of the talks were not disclosed.

Representative of the State Committee of Communication, Information and Telecommunication Technologies of Uzbekistan denied reports that issues of currency conversion were discussed at the meeting with the delegation of TeliaSonera led by Executive Vice President and Head of Region Eurasia Erik Hallberg, 12news.uz reported.

Official of State Communication Committee said that the issue with currency conversion was not raised. The sides considered introduction of modern technologies and services, he added.

Peter Borsos, Head of Group Communications at TeliaSonera, said to UzDaily: “We do not comment on rumors. What we can say is that our position is the same as before. Our starting point is that we have the foot print we have, and that has not changed.”
