Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In Chilanzar district of Tashkent, a Russian language teacher struck a student multiple times during class.

The incident occurred after the student requested the teacher to conduct the lesson in Russian instead of Uzbek. It took place at School No. 188, marking the teacher’s first day at the institution.

The homeroom teacher of the affected boy was aware of the incident but instead of offering support, pressured the student to apologize to the teacher.

Currently, the Chilanzar District Internal Affairs Department is conducting a preliminary investigation, with involvement from representatives of the Children’s Ombudsman Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Ministry of Education.

Maria Zakharova, an official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also responded to the incident, requesting clarifications from Uzbek authorities.

In response, the leader of the "Milliy Tiklanish" party, Alisher Kadyrov, stated that Russia should not interfere in the internal affairs of Uzbekistan, as the violation of child rights involved a citizen of Uzbekistan, and measures would be taken in accordance with local laws.

Reports indicate that the teacher previously visited School No. 204 in the Yashnabad district, where her daughter studies, and provoked a conflict with the school administration.

During the conflict, she caused a scene, assaulted one of the teachers, resisted the police, and behaved aggressively in front of the students.

The court found the woman guilty of petty hooliganism, disobedience to law enforcement authorities, and illegal interference in the work of educators. She was sentenced to seven days of detention and fined 3.4 million soums.
