Tasks have been identified to improve the technical regulation system

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 26 February, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the presentation of proposals to improve the technical regulation system.

In Uzbekistan, the Technical Regulation Agency was created to reform standardization. In recent years, 12 thousand standards have been developed, 400 types of products have been tested, which has led to the expansion of exports to 40 new markets. However, to support exports and protect the domestic market, the technical regulation system requires further improvement.

The President emphasized the need to recognize national certificates abroad, increase confidence in the test results of domestic laboratories, and update technical regulations taking into account international standards.

It is also important to integrate information systems and portals in the field of standardization, improve the qualifications of specialists, and intensify the work of industry technical committees.

At the meeting, proposals for solving current problems in this area were considered. It was determined that the Technical Regulation Agency would be directly subordinate to the Government.

The main tasks of the agency will be the recognition of national certificates abroad, control over the quality of imported products, and the implementation of the requirements of the WTO Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade.

The agency will also be responsible for training specialized specialists, digitalizing the sphere and ensuring transparency in working with the population and entrepreneurs.

The President emphasized the importance of establishing agreements on mutual recognition of test results with developed countries and the introduction of international quality systems at enterprises.

It was also proposed to create an Information Center on Technical Barriers to Trade for effective interaction with the World Trade Organization. To improve human resources, it is proposed to attract foreign consultants and train standardization specialists. A unified electronic information system “Technical Regulation” will be introduced.

Having supported the proposals, the President noted the importance of interaction with local enterprises to study their problems and proposals in the field of standardization, and also ordered the implementation of specific plans for the creation of standards and laboratories.
