Tashkent to host training “Ethnography and archeology in museum: problems of collecting, documentation and interpretation”
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- From 14 to 16 June 2011, Tashkent will host a training “Ethnography and archeology in museum: problems of collecting, documentation and interpretation”.

UNESCO Office in Uzbekistan organized the training in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Sport Affairs of Uzbekistan. The event will be held at Hotel Dedeman Silk Road.

Since its establishment United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in November 1945, the museums are one of priority directions of the organization in preserving, rebirth and popularization of cultural heritage.

UNESCO strategy is directed at improving role of the museums in the society, which contribute to understanding cultural heritage of the country, social and economic development of local communities.

National training “Ethnography and archeology in museum: problems of collecting, documentation and interpretation” is organized based on methodology, presented in series of publications UNESCO/ICOM “Museum management” and is based on several methods of interactive education.

The main aim of the event is to train local museum specialists with new knowledge, used in international museum practice in preserving ethnographic and archeological collections with use of the methods of the UNESCO/ICOM “Museum management”.

Task of the training is to train museum specialists, who are able effectively and actively study in interactive training, as well as exchange of experience and knowledge with the colleagues, discuss various tasks of museum operation.

The training will be conducted by UNESCO experts from Russia, Ms Yuliya Kupina, deputy director of Museum of anthropology and ethnography of Russian Science Academy, and Mr. Igor Tikhonov, director of Museum of History of the State University of Saint Petersburg.
