The World Bank and Center for Economic Research with technical support from UNDP will organize research and empirical seminar on "Priority directions for welfare improvement in Uzbekistan" on 11 May 2007 at "Grand Orzu" Hotel.

The seminar is aimed at presenting results of the research works, carried out within the framework of small grants by the World Bank for undertaking research activity in the sphere of analysis of living standards in the country.

The event will also include analyses of the possibility of these results’ application in formulating the Welfare Improvement Strategy of Uzbekistan (WIS).

The seminar program will be organized around four core topics, including Assessment of living standards in the country; Migration, labor markets and agricultural sector reforms; Education and health as a basis for building human capital and Social protection.

The participants of the seminar will include representatives of research centers, educational institutions, experts from international organizations, as well as government agencies involved in WIS development process.
