Tashkent metro proposes to revise work schedule of large enterprises

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The management of the Tashkent Metro has proposed revising the work schedules of large enterprises in the city to reduce the load on the metro during peak hours.

This idea was presented at a press conference on October 9. The proposal aims to introduce staggered work hours for enterprises, similar to the change implemented at 27 universities in the capital located near metro stations, where class schedules were adjusted.

Abdutokhir Abdukodirov, Deputy Head of the Metro's Operations Department, noted that some enterprises employing between 1,000 and 10,000 people currently start their workday at 8:00 AM.

Shifting this start time to 9:00 AM could ease the morning rush on the metro.

Passengers are also encouraged to use less crowded stations to alleviate congestion at popular stops. The top five busiest stations are "Pakhtakor" (77,300 passengers per day), "Amir Temur Khiyoboni" (over 60,000), "Chilanzar" (more than 58,700), "Buyuk Ipak Yuli" (54,200), and "Almazar" (30,700).

Additionally, it was highlighted that most passengers prefer to board the first and last cars, leading to bottlenecks and increasing train waiting times from 1.5 minutes to 2-3 minutes.

This initiative aims to improve metro efficiency and ease crowding during peak times, ensuring smoother operations for passengers and the system as a whole.
