Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- State Unitary Enterprise "Tashkent Metro" plans to purchase 160 cars in 2023-2024. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan.

This year, the Tashkent Metro State Unitary Enterprise will receive 56 cars. In 2024, the company plans to purchase another 104 cars.

The new cars will be distributed among all four lines to reduce train headways.

State Unitary Enterprise “Tashkent Metro” notes that currently the average number of passengers using metro lines per day is 690-700 thousand. At the same time, the number of passengers is growing due to traffic jams.

To avoid overloads, 6 trains of five cars were launched, and by the end of the year their number is planned to be increased to 13.
