Tashkent hosts event to discuss activities of South Korean volunteers
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Office of KOICA (Korea International Cooperation Agency) in Uzbekistan held a meeting of organizations participating in the Volunteers Program at City Palace hotel on 2 November 2012.

The envoy of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Republic of Uzbekistan Mr. Bae Han Jin, Head of the department of the Ministry of the Foreign Economic Relations, Investment and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Mr. B. Alihanov, Director of KOICA office in Uzbekistan, and representatives of other government agencies and organizations participated in the meeting. Participants received all the relevant information about the activities of volunteers and their achievements for the past one year, held discussions and were able to share their experiences.

After the opening speech of the Director of KOICA office in Uzbekistan, the envoy of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Uzbekistan and Deputy Minister of Foreign Economic Relations, Investment and Trade gave their greeting speeches. Also, during the meeting the representatives of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Uzbekistan made their speeches.

Since the signing of the agreement on dispatching volunteers between Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea in 1995, 7 volunteers on Korean language and 3 volunteers on IT were dispatched and up to date more than 340 volunteers were dispatched to Uzbekistan, which contributed to the further development of relations between the two countries.

At present, 62 volunteers have been dispatched to Uzbekistan to carry out their activities at various organizations on various fields, such as Korean language, IT, taekwondo and medicine.
