Tashkent host third session of Discussion Club
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 28 March 2012, Tashkent hosted the third meeting of the "Discussion Club".

The event was organized by the Center for Political Studies headed by Professor Gulnara Karimova.

Discussion Club is a platform for building professional dialogue between foreign and Uzbek experts as a basis for generating new views and ideas that can have impact both on theoretical and practical levels to develop political and economic school of Uzbekistan and promote it wide entry into the global intellectual space.

The latter meeting of the “Discussion Club” was dedicated to the theme of “The Future of the Global Market: Projections and Development Models”.

The meeting brought together specially invited leading foreign experts such as President of Expert Consulting company “NEOKON” Dr. Mikhail Khazin (Russia), Chairman of the “Institute of Dynamic Conservatism” Dr. Andrei Kobyakov (Russia), Vice-President of China Institute of International Studies at the Foreign Ministry Dr. Liu Youfa (China), Vice-Chairman of Indian Institute of Finance Prof. Aman Agarwal (India), Senior Economist at the Department of Macroeconomics and Development, Globalization and Development Strategies of UNCTAD Dr. Nicholas Maystre (Switzerland). The honorary guest of the meeting was Vice Minister of Commerce of PRC Jiang Yaopin, who delivered a welcoming speech.

The event also gathered representatives of ministries and agencies, institutions of higher education, research and analytical centers of Uzbekistan, as well as international organizations and diplomatic corps accredited in Tashkent.

The issues related to the general state of global economy after the crisis in 2008-2009 were key topics of discussion. Among them: the impact of the crisis on key economic regions of the world - the U.S., EU, China, Asia and Russia, possibilities of the second wave of crisis based on the post-crisis tendencies and development of global trade, consumption market, energy, and production sector.

A separate attention on the agenda of the “Discussion Club” was given to the issues associated with economic development of Central Asia based on its core sectors.

The most heated debate took place around the scenarios of the global economy and the nature of a possible new crisis. Opinions were divided into two groups. One group pointed to a systemic crisis and the need to develop a new conceptual model of international economy. Their opponents expressed views that the main task is to improve the mechanisms of economic cooperation in the framework of current model and its adaptation into new post-crisis conditions. Thereat, all participants were unanimous in their assessment of the importance of capacity of developing countries in the process of stabilizing the world economy.

In general, the meeting created a convenient platform for professional exchange of views between experts that represented different viewpoints with regards to the future development of the global market.
