National institute on monitoring over formation of civil society and Public Fund on supporting and developing independent print media and information agencies of Uzbekistan organized the seminar.
MPs of Legislative Chamber, members of Senate of Oliy Majlis, representatives of ministries and departments and mass media attended the event.
The seminar was aimed at raising responsibility of mass media in covering youth policy issues in Uzbekistan, reforms in educational system and protection of youth from negative impacts.
Chairperson of the committee on information and communication technologies of the Legislative Chamber Abdurashid Juraboev said that currently Uzbekistan has over 1,200 mass media outlets.
He said that some 900 of them are print media, 200 are TV and radio stations and 150 are Internet media. It was noted that according to latest survey, some 90% of youth in the country receive information from Internet resources.
Deputy Chairperson of the committee on science, education, culture and sport of the Legislative Chamber Abdugappor Kirgizbaev said that half of Uzbekistan population at the age of below 18. He added that mass media in Uzbekistan are not making reports on youth policy and reforms in the area at enough level.
During the seminar, participants discussed issues of upbringing harmonically development of young generation youth policy and role of mass media in its implementation, as well as employment of youth.
