Tashkent City Administration Warns of Rising Real Estate Fraud
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Tashkent City Administration has issued an official warning to residents and representatives of the construction sector in light of a growing number of real estate fraud cases, which have left citizens without homes and lost investments.
According to the statement, in recent months, numerous violations of construction standards and legislation have been uncovered involving several developers. Some companies began construction of residential properties without securing the necessary permits, conducting expert evaluations, or obtaining technical approvals. In many cases, they also attempted to sell apartments before completing construction and without any legal grounds.
“As a result of such actions, some of our fellow citizens, having placed their trust in unscrupulous companies, have lost their savings and been left without housing,” the administration stressed.
To restore order, the Tashkent city authorities, in cooperation with relevant agencies, have stepped up oversight in the construction sector. In several districts of the capital, work on 59 sites was completely halted due to the lack of proper permits. These sites were disconnected from power supply, and monitoring efforts are ongoing. Each case of violation will be addressed in accordance with the law.
The authorities urged residents to exercise maximum caution when purchasing property and to follow key guidelines: request original documents from sellers, including cadastral papers, expert evaluations, and technical inspection reports; avoid paying in cash or through unofficial channels; and thoroughly review all contractual terms.
If there is any doubt about the legality of a developer or project, citizens are encouraged to immediately contact the official Tashkent City Administration chatbot.
A separate message was also directed to businesspeople and developers: before launching any construction or commercial activity, a full set of official approvals must be obtained.
The administration reaffirmed its firm and uncompromising stance on violations that may harm the interests of citizens.
