Tashkent Airport to open unified terminal by mid-2026
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The unification of the arrival and departure terminals at Tashkent International Airport is scheduled for mid-2026, announced Jавlonbek Umarhodjaev, chairman of Uzbekistan Airports, as reported by Gazety.uz.
According to him, the extensive works are related to the study of underground engineering communications. The airport has been in operation for over 70 years, and archival data on the installation of cable networks has been partially lost.
As a result, it is necessary to conduct geological exploration to determine the location of these communications and to avoid any damage that could affect the airport’s operations.
Umarhodjaev expressed confidence that by June 2026, the new unified terminal, covering approximately 100,000 square meters, will be put into operation. Its capacity is expected to be around three thousand passengers per hour.
In August 2024, Uzbekistan Airports completed the reconstruction of the departure hall by expanding the terminal complex with a new hall of 2,500 square meters. In November, work began on expanding the arrival hall towards the forecourt. This phase of modernization is planned to be completed by May 2025.
