Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation from Uzbekistan led by the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva is in New York to participate in the 68th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women.

During this visit, Tanzila Narbaeva met with the President of the Swiss Confederation Viola Amerd. At the meeting, issues of further strengthening cooperation between Uzbekistan and Switzerland were discussed. In particular, issues of developing political dialogue and implementing joint projects in the trade, economic, investment and technological spheres were raised.

At the moment, 19 joint projects are being successfully implemented between Uzbekistan and Switzerland in various fields, such as automotive manufacturing, textile production, pharmaceuticals, food industry, livestock farming and infrastructure development. During the meeting, it was noted that both countries have great potential for increasing the number of joint projects.

The importance of interparliamentary relations was emphasized. The prospects for their strengthening were discussed. Issues of intensifying relations between specialized committees and creating friendship groups in the parliaments of the two countries were considered.

During the meeting, specific proposals were put forward for the development of cooperation in various areas, including the area of gender equality and the exchange of experience in this direction.

Practical initiatives to expand financial and technical cooperation for the implementation of socially significant programs in the Aral Sea region were also discussed.
